If you’re from New York, there’s a new game in town. On Monday, the Resorts World Catskills, which is located approximately 100 miles north of New York City, opened a 5,000-square-foot poker room to the public.

The room offers both limit and no-limit Texas hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, and 7 Card Stud. Players can also look forward to a Bad Beat Jackpot, weekly promotions, and poker tournaments, which will debut later this year.

Slow Start or Found Money?

The Resorts World Catskills gaming and event complex, which cost a whopping $1.2 billion to build, actually opened a month ahead of schedule on February 8, though the poker room wasn’t unveiled until nearly a month later. It was a slow start for Resorts World Catskills, who failed to match the gaming revenue of nearby competition – del Lago Resort & Casino and Rivers Casino – when both opened in February 2017.

“So, all in all, it’s inaccurate to look strictly at the numbers so far,” said executive vice president Charlie Degliomini told NYup.com. “We didn’t plan to open until March.
